“What Do You Think You’ll Make a Living As A Video Games Tester?”
You wake up and your eyes are burning and puffy and you feel like you haven’t slept for days. . .so what’s up? Too much partying? Insomnia? Job Stress? School Paper Due? . . nah, you’re just jacked cuz you’re up playing Half-Life and World of Warcraft all night! Well hallelujah, slacker no more, you’re a perfect candidate to become a video games tester!
“Yeah Right, Whose Gonna PayMe To Play Gears of War and Rainbow Six all Day?
Umm, the big gaming companies? The Gaming industry is a business ($50 billion dollars/year strong) and they wanna sell products, lots of products. Here’s the problem, who runs these video gaming companies. . .that’s right, corporate suits! What do they know about what we want to play, diddly squat, nadda, zilch, game over! Yet they do seem to come up with games and little details that we as gamers love (such as not penalizing us for being away from Wow for a few days, by letting us remain in a state of rest and actually accrue some experience points along the way, so we can do things like, take vacation or come back to the real world). Another big aspect of the gaming business is to make a game that everyone talks about and gets others to play, while still maintaining the quality (roughly translated, no bugs) that top of the line gaming companies maintain.
“So How Do These Gaming Co.s Put These Games Out That We Are Addicted To?”
The actual engineers (the creative minds (aka geeks) that actually program and create these games) make a beta version to be tested, by who else? A Video Games Tester, which would be you and me. . .sweeeeeeet! And why would they want to test these, well, cuz there’s always bugs in the beta version, and there’s always things that the engineers can’t see or think of, that a thousand actual gamers, can. Fewer bugs, means fewer returns, more cool features, mean more cool things to tell your friends about. . .ahhh, yes, I see. From there, it’s just a numbers game. The execs see that if they pay a few video games testers like you and I to figure out the bugs, and to tell them what other things would make a game better, then they will sell, thousands more games and make millions of dollars more and get to drive home to their fat homes, in their fat cars, to their fat . . .well you get the picture. It’s what drives corporate
“Ok So It All Sounds Too Good To Be True, What’s The Catch?”
To be blunt, it's not all fun and games, although you do play games and some are more fun than others, there is still some work involved. You'll be playing unfinished (aka beta) versions of games and there will be some bugs in the games, some will have a bunch, others very few, the key to being a great game tester is being able to find those bugs, so if you love rooting around in the online gaming world and tipping over every virtual rock and mushroom, you'll do well being a games tester, and more importantly you'll be able to make more money the more bugs you find! You will play the games and document where the bugs are and how the bugs are affecting the game. So it's like solving a puzzle within a puzzle, if you're one of those people who really like to find the jewels within the game, that most people don't even know exist, then you'll do great as a video games tester. The best part is that if you're truly passionate about online, or video console games, then you may even get a chance to work directly with the designers and have a big impact on what new games come out! But if you are looking to just get free games, play a little here and there and call it a night, this probably isn't for you. Don't be fooled into thinking that you will get paid without offering some value to the gaming company. True you may be able to get a job here and there, but realistically you won't get much work, nor will you get paid much. I want to be straight forward with you as many other folks will tell you that it's a breeze, it's all fun gaming and you get paid for doing what you love. Well as you can see that's not true at all, but again if you do have a passion for online video gaming, then this maybe your opportunity to get into this amazing industry and love what you do and get paid to do it! So if you're still interested read on. . .
“Ok, I’m Ready, What Do I Need To Start?”
Well first off, you’ll need a computer with a solid graphics card and extra memory. If you also have a gaming console for Xbox, PS2 or 3, PSP or even Nintendo Wii, it is helpful, however not required. (see below) If you have a laptop powerful enough to play graphics heavy games, then by all means, play at your local coffee shop, down by the beach, or just chillin’ up in the mountains (do you see how this might be a little better then going to a J-O-B to get paid). Of course, video game testing does require you to have some knowledge of the online gaming world, however you’ll be able to test new games to the market (which makes this job even more enjoyable, just getting games a few months before they even come out is a cool little bonus) If you're ready click here, if not please read on.
“So How Much Can I Make, And How Many Games Can I Test?”
That really depends on you. Typically you can make anywhere form $13/hour to $90/hour (see above for what will make you more money as a games tester), but it will depend on the job and your experience as well as how many hours can you put into testing. .. how complex the game is, how quickly you can get through the game and as stated above, how good you are at identifying the bugs and documenting them. There are many factors that can determine how much you make and how many games you can beta test, but it all comes down to you, there is always going to be game tester jobs, as there is no slow down in the online video gaming market, so however much time you can put into this, is what you’ll get out. But let’s remember, in the end we are getting paid to play video games.
If what you mean by “regular job” is that you get paid every month or every two weeks, then the answer is yes to both. It depends on the company, however most companies pay bi-weekly or whenever you’re done testing (which is usually a week or less depending on how much time you can put in) and the money can be paid either through a check, or direct deposit. (I opted for a check the first months, just so I can make sure it was real, but now it’s nice to just know that the money is already in my account ready to spend). Oh by the way, did I mention you get to keep these video games free of charge and get paid to play!
“Wait, I Heard That These Are A SCAM.”
These jobs are 100% for real. They are happening every single day, and the video game market is just getting bigger and bigger, last year alone the video game market was a $50 Billion dollar market, yes Billion. There are some products that are scams, that I can vouch for as I’ve read through others on the market (again don't believe the hype that you'll play games all day and nothing else, and get paid, there is work involved, but the work you'll be doing will be much more enjoyable then sitting in a cubicle wondering how to make more gold faster in Wow. . .After much research I came across the best product for finding video game tester jobs period. Even if you decide not be become a video games tester (which is perfectly fine, just playing on your free time is enjoyable and not everybody is cut out for this job) this product gives you, along with the video game job hunter guide, a gamer membership tips and tricks(free) to help increase your gaming skillz which will definitely pay off in both finding bugs and becoming an expert in your favorite game, the ultimate guide with more cheats and codes then you’ve ever seen (this alone was worth the money), secret access to other games at 50-80% off (again any serious gamers will want to get their hands on this info), leading game rental access (yes companies are renting games out for free to get user feedback and you'll get full access to these secret game rental companies), and you get a chance to win one of many Xbox 360s, PS3, or PSP! (See where to get this below or click here.)
So hopefully you'll have learned a bit more about becoming a video games tester. It can be a very satisfying and lucrative career move, but it really depends on how badly you want it. You can also visit a handful of universities that offer courses on video game programing and development to find out more about what goes on behind the scenes in this very exciting and fast paced industry. In the case that there’s still some doubt in your mind, you can always try the product, get a few jobs, get the game cheats and codes, get the gamers guide to increase your skillz, and after 6 weeks, if you’re not happy and decide this isn't for you, just ask for your money back, as there is a no questions asked 6 week money back guarantee. (I know I asked for a refund, just to test them and they were more than happy to give my money back immediately, I had to go back in under my wife’s id to sign up again, cuz I loved the membership site with all the new extras every month.)
